Parks and Recreation

The Dover Parks and Recreation Department reports to the Parks and Recreation Commissioners who are elected. The Dover Parks and Recreation Department develops and implements recreational activities for all ages. It is in charge of the care, maintenance and planning for all park lands as well as Dover school grounds, protective agency grounds, and the grounds of the library, Town House and Caryl Community Center. Dover Parks and Recreation coordinates special events and summer camps.

Dover Town Code Description of Responsibilities

Town Code
There shall be a five-member Park and Recreation Commission elected on a rotating basis of one or two members each year for three-year terms. The Commission shall have jurisdiction over all park lands and public recreation programs within the Town and shall have powers and duties which shall include, but shall not be limited to, those specified in M.G.L. ch. 45, §§ 2, 5.
