Household Hazardous Waste

These items are banned from the trash. Appropriate disposal is mandatory.

Mercury

Give mercury-containing items to the attendant. Include unbroken fluorescent tubes, ballasts, mercury thermometers, thermostats, and switches. Home spills can be dangerous! Open windows, close doors and leave the room immediately. Then call the MA toll-free mercury hotline at 1-866-9MERCURY.

Automobile Waste

Bring automobile batteries and used motor oil to the attendant. Check with attendant for proper tire disposal method.

Freon-Containing Appliances

Dover does not accept these items at the Transfer Station. Call Millis Auto Parts for disposal 508-376-8700. There is a $15 fee.

Batteries

Give all non-alkaline batteries including rechargeable, button, NiCd, and lithium to the attendant.

Other Hazardous Materials

pesticides, herbicides, banned chemicals, photographic chemicals, auto waste (transmission and brake fluid, antifreeze, unusable gasoline), oil-based paint, etc. Bring to scheduled Hazardous Waste Collection Day.
