Dover Land Conservation Trust
Dover Land Conservation Trust promotes the preservation of Dover’s rural character by conserving and maintaining land for protection of our groundwater quality, passive recreation areas and scenic views. For five decades, Dover Land Conservation Trust has relied solely on generous individuals to acquire and preserve over 500 acres of land so that current and future generations may enjoy our many hiking, biking, and walking trails, as well as for the betterment of the wildlife and plant life therein. All of our properties are open to the public; in all cases, please respect adjacent private property. Among those particularly good for walking are:
- Snow Hill Reservation is the largest parcel (110 acres, with open walking access) owned by The Dover Land Conservation Trust. The access road off Pine Street is marked ” Ralph McAllister Fire Tower ” on the right hand side of Pine Street, about a mile south of the intersection of Pine and Centre Streets.
- Springdale Field (17 acres, with open walking access), accessed from Springdale St.
- Bartlett Pines (21 acres, with open walking access), accessed from Claybrook Rd.
- The Gregg property (42 acres, with open walking access), off Haven Terrace
- The Reidy property (8 acres, with open walking access) off Annie King Lane
- The Donnelly property (19 acres, with open walking access) off Hunt Drive.
The Trustees are eager to work with landowners who want to preserve land, by outright purchase or donation of land, or by entering into conservation restrictions. We seek the community’s ideas on all aspects of land conservation.
