Food Scraps

The Food Scrap Pickup Program has been suspended.  A new program will be announced soon, to be implemented no later than August 1, 2019.  Updates will be posted here, as well as on, and the Dover Facebook Page.

Help feed the pigs! The Board of Health offers a FREE food scrap recycling program with weekly pickup from your home. Food scraps consist of any kind of food scraps including bones, eggshells and shellfish. Food recycling reduces the strain on septic systems and saves tax dollars by reducing solid waste at the Transfer Station. It is estimated that 25% of Dover’s solid waste tonnage comes from food scraps. You can use your own pails or purchase them from the Transfer Station or Highway Department. This link will show you which pails are sold.  Please contact the Board of Health office to sign up at 508-785-0032 ext. 232.

If your household participates in the food scraps program, please make sure that there is a clear path to the food scraps container in order for it to be emptied by George Stevens or place the container by your house or garage.  Snow should be removed from the top of the container.  Thank you.
