MA Declares State Has Entered into Drought Conditions

Town of Dover

June 26, 2020- Massachusetts declares the state has entered into drought conditions.  “The quick decline of the state’s rainfall since May, as well as recent high temperatures and below normal rainfall continuing from the winter months, led to the drought condition with accompanying steep declines in precipitation and stream flow. ”  Dover sits at the edge of the Zone 2 drought district and while Dover is not yet in the declared immediately adjacent district, Dover’s water situation is well described by the words above.  The Town’s Water Resource Comm.’s June monitoring well and stream measurements show declines in water level and reductions in stream flow. The announcement from the Commonwealth while advisory to Dover residents should be taken seriously and action should include major reduction in outdoor watering.  Please see the full order from MA EEA here: https://www.mass.gov/news/state-announces-drought-conditions-in-several-regions-of-massachusetts
